What do jugglers, story tellers, merry-go-rounds, and stilt-walkers all have in common? They were all part of a festival held this weekend in Burgos called Enclave de Calle. In a nutshell, this two-day festival is comprised of a bunch of circus/street performers wandering around the city and practicing their craft. As you can see from the photo above, there was a also merry-go-round at the festival and the Spanish children really seemed to enjoy it. This merry-go-round was actually made in France if I’m not mistaken, so the artwork and carvings on it were very detailed and interesting.
The festival also came with some “scary” monsters like the one pictured below who was over 3 meters tall (the actor inside the costume was obviously walking on stilts). It was interesting watching this guy walk around the city; some of the children went right up to him to say hello and others hid behind trees and bushes so that the “scary monster” wouldn’t get them….

Of course, if monsters aren’t for you, maybe you’d like the (somewhat strange) sailor show that was put on in one of Burgos’ plazas. During the show, the actor pictured below did various acrobatic maneuvers and pulled rubber fish out of random places on stage. It was unique, to say the least….

These, of course, weren’t the only acts available at the festival. There were also jugglers, puppeteers, story tellers, etc. If you’d like to see some of my other photos from the festival, you can click here to view them on Picasa.
Hasta luego,
–Chris
